American Legion Auxiliary Post 175 | Honoring a Legacy of Service

The Esther Ruch Memorial Scholarship is awarded by American Legion Auxiliary Post 175 to honor the legacy of Esther Ruch—an inspiring example of community service, patriotism, and dedication to helping others. This scholarship recognizes graduating seniors who have shown a strong commitment to volunteering and making a positive impact in their communities.

Scholarship Awards

Two (2) scholarships of $500 each

Eligibility - Applicants must be graduating seniors from one of the following schools:

Stow Munroe Falls High School

Theodore Roosevelt High School

Ravenna High School

Students must also demonstrate active community participation and volunteer service.

Requirements

To be considered, applicants must submit a completed application packet that includes:

Completed scholarship application

One (1) recommendation letter from a teacher or guidance counselor

Essay (500 words maximum): “What does volunteering mean to you and why is it important? Include where you volunteered and how it made a difference.”

High School section completed by the guidance counselor

Student and parent/guardian signatures

Deadline

Application Due: March 13, 2026
